Subscribers who read my founding post from December will know About our funding goals for Canadian Civil this year. Alive sits at one of the higher tiers because it takes about two months to organize and costs quite a bit in time, venue and printing.
Production is underway on videos that promote Canadian Civil, but not in time for us to shake the required support out of the funding tree. This forced us to either skip a year or get creative. With "creator” in our job description we had NO CHOICE but to go with the latter and, I’m really joyous about the result.
The Ongoing Challenge
Every year I've been trying to figure out how to focus Canadian Civil Alive on the reforms we care about. The first one doubled as the Construisons Montréal kick-off event. Sure we had a laugh and played some games, but we also ranked and decided on the reform ideas which became the construisons ask of the provincial parties at the election. That was the version I keep wanting to get back to: a fun fulfilling event where the energy is applied to something, we accomplish something as a community and celebrate together.
This year, we’re getting back to that. Instead of a big party in the evening, we're creating a whole day where the reform-focused content creators can work on a project and collaborate. Some are bringing a mini missions, some are just coming to cheer the project and chill on a picnic blanket. Both are great and Canadian Civil supporters are welcome to join in on the fun and our usual end of day party.
We won't be selling tickets this year. You just need to
be a supporter.
