Is It Easier To Do The Montreal Grand-Prix On A Bike Than Get A Family Doctor?

One rider. 70 laps. Your family doctor?

Getting a family doctor in Canada is hard.

But we noticed something: doctors are into sports cycling!

So on August 15th our friend, dressed in scrubs, is riding all 70 laps of the Montreal Grand Prix on a bike, while we attempt to flag down a doctor and ask them one question: will you take on a patient?

Could that patient be you?

Why are we doing this?

In 2025, Quebec left 151 family medicine residency spots unfilled, that's more than the rest of Canada combined. The GP du GP is part of an upcoming video series on healthcare, the first video looks at why it is so hard for people to get a family doctor in Quebec.

Alors, le 15 août, notre ami (habillé en scrubs) va rouler les 70 tours du Grand Prix de Montréal à vélo. Pendant qu'il fait ça, on va essayer d'arrêter un médecin au passage pour lui demander : voudriez-vous prendre un nouveau patient?

Pourquoi on fait ça?

En 2025, le Québec a laissé 151 postes de résidence en médecine familiale vacants, c'est plus que tout le reste du Canada ensemble. Le GP du GP fait partie d'une prochaine série de vidéos sur la santé ; la première vidéo se penche sur pourquoi c'est si difficile d'avoir un médecin de famille au Québec.
